                         Washing Instructions for your bumGenius

      1. If you have a newborn, no need to rinse.

Breastfeed babies poop is water-soluble.

       2. If you have a toddler, use a liner and flush, and then rinse the diaper in sink or use your mini diaper sprayer, then wash as usual.

        3. If you have a washing machine that has a second rinse, use it! This is what is needed to remove any left over detergents.

         4. Depending on how many diapers you have, washing should be done at least every other day. I wash my diapers at the end of the day, and have fresh ones in the morning.

         5. For odors (wet diapers that sits too long) just use a little baking soda, and a vinegar rinse.

         6. The “no-no’s
                 a. Do NOT use Bleach
                  b. Do NOT use fabric Softener
                  c. Do NOT use detergent with fabric softener
                  d. USE VERY little detergent. Too much and you create build up on the diaper.
                  e. If your diaper quits “wicking” (moisture going thru) then just use about a ½ teaspoon of dawn detergent in a load of wash. This seems to get them very clean.
                  f. Do NOT use diaper cream, it prevents wicking. If your baby has a rash, use a diaper liner inside your diaper then apply the diaper cream.

Once you find a routine, cloth diapering is soooo easy. You will feel great about doing your part for the island and mother earth.
